george Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Has there ever been a storyline where Sal tried to find out more about her parents or trace a relative? How old was she when they died?
Frankie Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 Sallys was quite youg when her parents drowned in a boating accident....what is it about Summer Bay and drownings....... I think she went to live with her grandparents and then at a childrens home before moving in with Tom and Pippa. There was an uncle I think, who when his wife was unable to have children appeared and wanted to adopt Sally. His wife was nice and she and Sally really liked each other. The uncle was a pratt and thought money could buy anything. Tom and Pippa had also applied to adopt Sally at this point and were distraught, but wanted her to be happy. She was just about to leave with the Aunt and Uncel, when she realised that she would lose all her family at the Fletchers, and she said she didn't want to go. The uncle got stroppy and was going to contest the adoption by Tom and Pippa ...but the aunt said no to the uncle and told him to pull his head in... Sally's happiness was what was important..... I think Lance had hand in it somewhere as he sat on some caravan steps talking to her about what family really meant....in fact that period is one of my earliest Home and Away memories...I had forgotten all about it untill you raised this...I hope I have remembered it correctly.
Jay Preston Posted April 1, 2006 Report Posted April 1, 2006 What is it about Summer Bay and drownings I'd say it has something to do with being surrounded by water. The other stuff was interesting though. It's so great to have someone on the boards who has some background knowledge and is willing to share it with the young people, like myself.

Oi...I am only 5 years older than you buster... ...I am still young'ish....
loveangelmusicbaby Posted April 2, 2006 Report Posted April 2, 2006 I wasn't watching Home and Away in the early years as was way too young but I think Pippa and Tom were great foster parent's for Sally. They are the next best thing to having her mum and dad alive..if that made sense.
Susan Kennedy Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 just to let you know that Roger Oakley - whom most will remember as Sally's foster dad Tom Fletcher in Home And Away - will soon make an appearance in Neighbours as Jim Parker, the estranged father of Steve Parker. This will be interesting to see what storyline is in store for him as Steve was abused by his dad. Susan Bower (Neighbours new boss) is certainly bringing in some experienced actors to the show which is a good thing!
MargaretB Posted April 14, 2008 Report Posted April 14, 2008 I remember the storyline with the relatives who wanted to adopt around the same time as the Fletchers applied to adopt Sally. During this recent storyline with Miles I have often wondered why they did not say anything - they must have known she was a twin. Still, it is only a soap!
