Liz Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 I think that the scriptwriters always knew that Hayley and Noah were meant to be together and they may have tried to permanently ship either character with somebody else, but realised that it would never have truly worked.
Emma_B Posted March 27, 2006 Report Posted March 27, 2006 I think that the scriptwriters always knew that Hayley and Noah were meant to be together and they may have tried to permanently ship either character with somebody else, but realised that it would never have truly worked. Exactly, and even if Bec hadn't wanted to leave I don't think there was anywhere left for the Scott and Hayley partnership to go. They couldn't have stayed in the Bay long-term. NH could have so easily.
Tulip Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I think Hayley and Kim work OK as a couple but I think having them getting married was a bit too far-fetched. I understand that it would be difficult for Ella to act out scenes about Noah but maybe Noayh could have come back as a ghost again and shown her a sign? Or not! I don't think Hayley should be on her own but I don't think her and Scott really work, I think she and Kim are better but neither couples compare to her and Noah.
claire_louise Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 What I don't understand is, why does everyone have to be paired off to have a happy ending? There have been classic couples in the past where one partner is killed off (eg. Shane and Angel, Pippa and Tom/Michael) and the writers always have to find a new love interest for them to go off into the sunset with, as if this is the only way they can be happy. Usually the new person is nice enough but will never compare to the 'soulmate', and although it's nice that the characters are happy it kind of cheapens what the original couple had. I would have been much happier if Hayley had gone off to Paris, maybe taking Kit with her instead of Noah (no, Jess and Liz, not in a sexual way ), and the whole Kim/Scott fiasco had never happened.
Liz Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 Usually the new person is nice enough but will never compare to the 'soulmate', and although it's nice that the characters are happy it kind of cheapens what the original couple had. A classic example is Leah/Dan. They are a 'nice' enough couple, but (opinions aside) the fact is that Vinnie was Leah's soulmate.
Frankie Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I agree with that. It would have been more meaningful.
ste Posted March 28, 2006 Report Posted March 28, 2006 I also agree that Vinnie and Leah were the perfect onscreen couple. However I do think Dan and Leah are good (not just because i think Dan is "nice enough). And I think they could become the new Alf and Ailsa.
Tulip Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I don't think I would have believed Hayley going to Paris with Kit. She seems to be someone who needs lots of friends round. I think living with her family would have been a better option. Maybe staying with them. I would have loved a story where she adopted a child. I don't know why, I could just see Hayley becoming the next Irene.
claire_louise Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 ^ Oh God, that would be awful! Hayley (well, Bec's Hayley, at least) was sickeningly perfect enough already, without becoming Saint Hayley The Adoptive Mother! You're right, though, it does seem like the sort of thing she'd do. The reason I wanted her to go to Paris is that it was her and Noah's dream, and it seemed kind of sad that his death meant the end of that dream. Plus the timing was perfect for her to leave. It was after that point that her character went rapidly downhill, having (IMO) been in the show too long.
Tamxxx Posted March 29, 2006 Report Posted March 29, 2006 I think Haley and Noah were star crossed lovers, like K&K, they always ended up being togther, I loved Haley and Noah as a couple they were so romantic
