A Different Side to the Great Jack?

I know he's supposed to be abit jealous of Corey and upset that he's split up with Martha, but why be so mean!?

I've noticed for a couple of weeks that he's turned a bit mean.. Like with his ear, he told lucas not to say anything, which was mean. And then when Lucas still talked to him about it he was rather bossy towards him. Now I know that he really loves his job and he didn't wan't his career to be over, so i accepted it when it happened. Also, I accepted the slip of the tongue when he shouted at Martha and caused there split up, because I don't think he meant to say it, and he was really sorry afterwards. Nothing bad really came from him after that, he was quite nice. When he first met Martha (first time after the split) there was awkwardness, but she was really the mean one (the way she said bye to Jack, then Corey). Also, he did save her from a bad situation and him expecting a thankyou wasn't really too much to ask, but I guess Martha was pretty embarressed.

Anyway, the next mean thing that he did that I can think of was on tonights episode. When he snapped at Corey about the whole Martha business. "I'm the senior officer...." wasn't needed.. I felt kind of sorry for Corey. But he was really mean when Martha was trying to talk to him normally, about Alf running for mayor (or whatever its called) and he could have easily said "yea sure" but he didnt.. which was quite mean, and I think unjack like. Lol. ALSO (i go on a bit.. sorry :D) I know he got a shock when he saw Martha walk round the corner, but he shouted at her, which wasn't needed, and he never apologized for the situation afterwards. I know it wasn't his fault she walked around the corner, but it wasn't hers either, and it would have been the jack thing to do! lol Finally, Jack with Corey. When he told him to just write down the facts, and bossed him around abit was mean, he was in the wrong, he could have atleast tried to be all friendly to Corey and bought him a drink so he'd forget about it! lol

Wow I rambled on there! lol What i'm trying to say is, I think H&A made Jack unlike jack, if you get me! I personally think he was acting a bit out of character, I know he really likes Martha and all that, but i'm sure he didn't need to act like that! Who knows, maybe thats just normal reaction to a split up or something, or maybe, thats the real jack! :o I hope not! :(

I never saw a great character in the first place.

Even so, how boring (and unrealistic) would it be if a character had only one side to them?

Well, it depends. You can't have a nice character one minute, then a really mean one another. I thought he was pretty nice, and as I said, I accept some of the things he did, he had some reasons to be quite mean, I'm sure theres sometimes where everyone snaps at someone, or does something that isn't that nice to get their own way, but he seems to have done quite a few mean things, which I feel is out of character for Jack.

Also, I wouldn't like it if say.. Alf had a mean side. Where he went for like a week being mean, it wouldn't be right, it wouldn't be our Alf! And Jack has been portrayed as a nice character, looks after his family and stuff, good cop, nice guy! Turning quite mean towards his brother and other people is a big no no i think. And not acceptable for a character that he was made out to be.

Alf has been around for years, but we don't have enough experience of Jack to class his personality as nice, nasty or anything else. You cannot really compare the two situations.

Besides, Jack has hardly been villain of the year.

Jack would have to be dead to be an angel & let's face it, it'd be pretty hard to film a halo! :P

I just realised my avatar makes ME saying that pretty funny! :D

I agree Liz that I shouldn't have used Alf as an example. Jack hasn't been around for that long, but I don't think you'll find many people who'd call him a mean character, I think he's supposed to be a nice guy, and i just think that lately he hasn't been that nice guy, I wasn't saying that he was "villain of the year"

I must say i really don't like Jack as a character. He had so much potential. Wasted.

xx

Why has it been wasted?

In saying "villain of year", I was expressing my opinion that he hasn't actually been *that* nasty.
