Is Martha supposed to be a tomboy?

Yes, and isn't it sad how they fail to keep the female characters "intact" after they hook them up with male characters?

What ever message she sends out, i think martha is a great character, be it all girly or as a tom boy somtimes. At least she can act, that is one thing you cannot say about Amanda.

Mac always had a soft heart I think, otherwise why would she go half across the world & back to get to know her blood family WELL before she ever even knew Jack Holden exsisted.

It may seem kind of odd to some of you, but I actually kind of like the idea of Martha being a tomboy.

Tomboys (at least in my experience) are the types of girls who seem to be the most unpredictable, and given what I've seen of Martha so far, she seems to be the type who will surprise you!

I recon its sadder that the writers think that every person in Summer Bay has to be matched up/in a relationship. :o

Martha can be tomboyish some times, but quite girly at times too. I think it's more realistic than wearing the same kind of stuff all the time. I mean, I don't think I've ever seen Matilda wearing trousers, just seems a bit odd to me!

I think it's because I have a couple of styles going on too, sometimes I wear more boyish clothes, like baggy trousers and army boots and stuff, other times I wear skirts, corsets, stockings etc. Why just have 1 style? I'd get really bored if I wore the same stuff all the time!

In a way I think Martha is kind of like me, only more confident! She wears girly stuff sometimes, but I can't really imagine her having a girly night in and painting her nails, it just doesn't seem like something she'd do. I think she'd rather go out for a pint with the lads, so in that respect, she reminds me more of myself.

I don't know if it's like this everywhere in Australia, but I know plenty of girls who hardly ever were pants/jeans. In summer everyone, @ least where I live wears mini's or short shorts. Matildia seems very fashion consious, so I think she is just following the trends.

I like it how Martha & Tasha both have an individual sense of style, eg. they don't just follow trends. It makes them very unique.

She's a country girl. They're raised a bit differently. Girls in the country get their hands dirty so to speak. Thats the difference between her and say.... Leah I think.

True. At our school the girls used to wear long pants most of the time - even in the hot weather. Come to think of it so did a lot of us guys.... must be a silly aussie thing.

She was also brought up as an only girl with a few older brothers, so it's only natural that she would be more comfortable hanging around with boys and maybe behaving in a more boyish way.
