Brilliant episode, unfortunately it had to be hampered with the whole paternity thing. How long has that been dragging on.

What brilliant performances by Joel, Kate and Ray. It was so sad.

Oh and Hi I am new!

Hi welcome to the forum :)

I did as well. I was kind of thinking that I am a bit of a freak! It's only a show, but it was soooo sad. :(

I was shocked as I have not been reading ahead for ages.

I thought Sally's reaction was so real - the anger at Flyn. I am glad I did not read ahead. I think the way it was shot, in silence to us, was excellent. We did not need words.

Unfortunately I did know of the storyline in advance so, although it wasn't as much of a shock as it was to Flynn, it still had a lot of impact and already there have been many fantastic, memorable scenes. From watching him inside the scanning machine, to hearing the results, to telling Sally, to talking to her, to talking to Alf.

I've always liked Flynn/Joel (not so keen on the original actor, Martin?), and think he's been underused a bit, being more of a secondary feature in other character's stories rather than having many of his own. I was amazed when he apparently came off so lightly after plunging over that high cliff recently though. You'd think he could then survive anything - we wish. :(

I'm glad he told Sally immediately. I worried he wouldn't when he went for the tests without telling her, but clearly now he just didn't want to worry her unnecessarily. The scenes between Alf and Flynn on the rocks were so good too. But the bit that most got to me was when she told him "you're my everything, you're my whole life". I have a feeling that these last three months are going to give us some of their best scenes - and I think they'll be almost as important to us, a definite time period to say a very final goodbye to a major character as they will to Sally! I hope we spend as much time on them as possible. Does anyone else feel that, good as some of them are, it will be hard to focus on all the other plots while this continues? Today we had Scott with Hayley, plus Amanda, and it just felt like they were interrupting precious moments of Sally and Flynn together. I'm a big fan of Peter, but - and given I've almost been counting the days until mid-May! - I don't think I'm even going to miss him too much now! The diagnosis was just one of those moments after which you know the show will never be quite the same again. (It's bad enough on TV - I just can't imagine how people cope with such news in real life, particularly at such a young age as Flynn. Do we know exactly how old he's supposed to be?)

I've just read here that it was Joel who wanted to leave, which I'm somewhat relieved to hear, because it would have been even worse if the writers had randomly chosen to axe Flynn. I am disappointed he's going though, because I thought, kind of assumed, that he and Sally would be at the heart of the show together for some years yet, like Tom and Pippa (though poor Tom didn't last that long either!).

To quote myself, I've never had terminal cancer before, but isn't that sort of how it happens.

You find a lump/mole, you have it checked out , they tell you what the situation is.

Yes, but that doesn't all happen in the space of a few days. It only takes two episodes (if you don't count the stupid dream predictions, which I don't) for Flynn to go from being perfectly fine and healthy to having just a few months to live. Ok, so he's a doctor and could probably hurry his test results along, but how fast can these things go?!

Cancer, when it gets hold of you, can go through your whole body, in a very short time. Flynn has what is called second cancer. Due to he has it in three places, his skin, liver , and brain. So he will not be able to fight it off in a soap, as in true life you would not live long with that.

I watched it last night too... I had tears pouring down my face (I cry at anything, just like my Uncle) it was heartbreaking. Brought back a few unwanted called for memories!!!

Brilliant acting by Sally but I was more amazed by Flynn's (Joel) acting - the way he portrayed the shock... How he didn't cry imediately (As thats the first thing people would do I guess) he was in a state of shock (To say the least)... I thought it showed Joel's capabitilies as an Actor, good job done I say... :)

I can't imagine it happening to me in real life - you never know whats round the corner.

On a personal note I have in a way been in the same situation as what Ric and Cassie will be going through soon... Its hard but it makes the bond and love between you all stronger and I hope thats what they portray in Home & Away.
