I love music Posted May 15, 2006 Report Posted May 15, 2006 Thanks for the info. Sorry I'm way behind with this fic at the moment but I am working on chapter 4! )
I love music Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 I think I need to bring Frank into the story a bit more now. I know someone said he dated and eventually married Bobby but I don’t feel confident enough to write about Bobby (as I gather she was a very major character) so I’d rather invent a girlfriend for him. Was he about 15/16 in the pilot? What was his personality? Carly was the one who asked Kane if the ship was turning back in the Mirigin episode, right? (It helps if I know what people looked like.) What was her background story before she came to live with Tom and Pippa? Someone mentioned one of Lance's friends playing the bagpipes or something. It's maybe given me an idea for Lance and music/singing. It will be from my imagination, not exactly what happened in H&A, but I just need to know, did they every have a story where he played a musical instrument or sang or anything? And, if so, what was he like? Good or bad? Thanks! I'm going on holiday tomorrow so if I get the answers by tonight I'll try and work on them in my head while I'm away.
Annette Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 I've only seem the pilot and the first episode, but Frank seems as though he doesn't like been pushed around, and has an argument with Fisher when he and Steven visit the school. I'm not sure how old he is, but he doesn't go to school any more. He's not very academic, and is mean to Steven, probably because he is jealous that Steven is clever. But in the first episode he calls him Steven for the first time, whereas before he had always called him Einstein or something sarcastic, so it appears they might be starting to get on better.
Ryan Posted June 11, 2006 Report Posted June 11, 2006 Marilyn, Lance and Martin had a surprise hit with "Santa Never Stops in Summer Bay" Neville was the one that played the bagpipes. Frank was older than than the maximum ages required to be kept under DOCS.

He was a kind of vague figure in my mind before. I think I'll send him off to college/TAFE each day to catch up on grades/exams he missed at school, which he isn't going to be very happy about! (Sorry, Frank! ;o) ) Thanks too for the info about the song. I'll do a bit more research on that when I get back as I'm not sure if you mean the actors actually brought the song out or it was just in the show. But, yep, I'll use the info about Lance being able to sing. Not sure how yet, but I'll think it over while I'm on holiday. Got to sort stuff out now, see you when I get back! )
I love music Posted June 22, 2006 Report Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks for your help, everyone, and I've got an idea forming in my mind re Lance's singing so I'll be using that info in a later chapter. Hmm, I know it's all questions, questions. questions but can anyone tell me exactly how old Lance was? It's just I want to fix him up with a girlfriend - I'm nice like that ;o) - and don't want the age difference to be too great.
Sunny Girl Posted June 23, 2006 Report Posted June 23, 2006 He had a thing for Marilyn, but he was such a bumbling character that no one stayed with him for long. He liked guest character Rhonda, though. There were so many ... Sally and Lance always had a special type of relationship. They would sit and chat together on Colleen's caravan steps. And they always confided in each other. . .
I love music Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 He had a thing for Marilyn, but he was such a bumbling character that no one stayed with him for long. He liked guest character Rhonda, though. There were so many ... He’ll be meeting another one soon! Sally and Lance always had a special type of relationship. They would sit and chat together on Colleen's caravan steps. And they always confided in each other. . . Colleen’s caravan steps? Did she live in a caravan? With Lance? It’s really tough writing about characters I never saw, but I did see Lance once or twice during the Mirigini episodes and the impression I got then was that he was meant to be bumbling and good-hearted so I’ve got a pretty good picture of him in my mind. I had already planned to have some Lance/Sally scenes, I can totally see how they’d be friends. BTW if no one knows how old Lance was, I’ll make him around 17/18.
Annette Posted June 25, 2006 Report Posted June 25, 2006 Does she not still live in a caravan, then? I remember it got knocked down by someone (possibly Evil Josh), but I'm pretty sure she got a new one... But I haven't really watched H&A for a while.
I love music Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 She did live in a caravan recently (well, when I last watched H&A) now you come to mention it, I'd forgotten. It's just I didn't imagine her living in a caravan with a teenage/grown-up son. I know some caravans are as big as bungalows but I thought the ones in the caravan park were just normal size. I'll post chapter 7 later this week BTW, just need to do a bit more work on it. When I finish pottering on the BTTB site...
