I think some of the lyrics might fit - if a 9-year-old kid was walking along the beach thinking about what had happened to Pippa - that’s the picture I got in my head anyway, don’t ask me why, seeing as I didn’t watch H&A then and you didn’t mention any scene like that! But it is a kind of bouncy, happy song so I’m not sure.

Wow, that's great, thanks!!! Tho I have to tell you the firm Tom is employed by, Safe as Houses Conglomerate (I had to call them that, just in case there was actually a real firm out there called something like Safe as Houses Ltd and I need a mix of trades anyway) are NOT a good firm to work for, that's why he gets so angry...

Do you know how someone would describe major repairs to a roof? Would they say something like "the roof needs re-covering" or would it be something else?

Okay - let's see if I've got this right: When a client first decides they want their roof done they may get hold of a builder who puts them onto a roof carpenter who is in charge of putting all the timber up. Then you have a roof tiler who tiles the roof. If you want the roof to be tin though, these people have a different name which I'll have to check out for you. These people are called sheet roofers .

You could say that there's been a storm and the roof is missing a few tiles, so it needs re-tiling in a few places. Or the tin might need re - sheeting. Just basic renovation work, really.

For anyone following, Chapter 15 now posted.

Just a couple of points about this chapter. I’m not sure if “cold calling” or “cowboys” are general terms in Oz, but, for any Aussie readers, in the UK "cold calling" means approaching would-be customers - instead of waiting for the customer to approach the firm - and “cowboys” is an expression used for anyone who isn’t entirely honest with a customer eg charging much more than a job is worth; doing a botched job etc. “Safe as Houses” is a name I invented for the building firm so apologies if a real one does happen to exist out there - and, BTW, I doubt any building firm would still be in business if it carried on like this fictitious one does!

I've hardly had any time lately to begin work on chapter 16 but I will asap.

Is the hospital in H&A called the Northern District Hospital? And is it based in Summer Bay or Yabbie Creek or where? Thanks for your help!
