tessa305 Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I dont think sally calls alf mr stewart out of respect (although she does respect him) i think its more that to her, that is who he is. If i met one of my teachers in a few years time, i dont think id start calling him/her by their first name because, to me, they are mr.../ms.... Ive noticed that cassie calls alf mr stewart too, perhaps it kind of shows their link as a familly? Cassie would call him that because sally does. Whereas flynn would have been introduced to him as alf. Just re read this post and its really confusing, i hope you can understand what im trying to say.
ste Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 ^ That's exactly what I was trying to say. It's not a deliberate choice to call him Mr Stewart as opposed to Alf, it's just that it's the name she's always known him as.
Jack Holden Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I loved that scene the other night when Alf came in and Sally ran to him and hugged him. Very moving scene
Emmadolly Posted March 9, 2006 Report Posted March 9, 2006 I loved that scene the other night when Alf came in and Sally ran to him and hugged him. Very moving scene It was very emotional, and moving. Especially when Mr Stwart said that he will take care of Sally and the kids.
c120701 Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I think it's nice that Sally still calls him Mr Stewart, all of the children and teenagers on Home and Away have called him that over the years instead of Alf (except his family obviously), I'm fairly sure Chloe still called him Mr Stewart when she returned, I think that once a character turns 30 they are allowed to call him Alf. Marilyn always used to make me laugh though, as she always called Alf - Mr Stewart and Ailsa - Mrs Stewart and Donald - Mr Fisher, I seem to recall her struggling to adjust from calling him Mr Fisher to Donald when they started going out. I don't think Irene has ever been called Mrs Roberts, and I don't think Pippa was ever called Mrs Fletcher, or Mrs Ross, except by the Police or DoCS.
Si-Co Posted March 10, 2006 Report Posted March 10, 2006 I remember the headmaster (who was the Summer Bay nutter) calling Pippa 'Mrs Fletcher' while he was trying to scare her!

Pippa was called Mrs Ross occasionally, usually by newbies, but she usually told people to call her Pippa. It was almost her catchphrase at one point. I liked how Maz always called Alf and Ailsa "Mr and Mrs Stewart". She called Don "Mr Fisher" up until she left in 1992. When she returned in 1995 she called him "Donald" instead which makes me think they had the romance planned from the moment she came back. There was nothing about her struggling to change what she called him, not that I can remember anyway!
