Forgive me if this post has been done to death (I have looked back and couldn't find it), but I am wondering if Bec has officially changed her name to bec? Or does she just prefer Bec to Rebecca? Also has she changed her last name to Hewitt? In some magazines and newspapers she is named as Bec Cartwright, and in others she is named as Bec Hewitt.

Well Bec is just short for Rebecca, her real name is still Rebecca.

I'm not sure if she uses Hewitt as her surname now or if she is still Cartwright, maybe she will continue to use Cartwright as her stage name if she does any more acting work.

I asked Bec what she would prefer me call her and she said she didn't mind, Rebecca or Bec - the other cast members called her Bec anyway so I did. It's just a shortened version, she wouldn't have had it officially changed. Same with me being known as Dan, it's not my official name but it's what everyone calls me.

I think she has taken the name Hewitt, though I'm not 100% sure

I think Rebecca is a really nice name. My cousin is called Rebecca, but she always got called Becky when she was younger, sometimes Becca. Nowadays she's gone back to using her full name though, rather than a shortened version.

I like Bec better. I think she goes by that name is because it is shorter maybe? I do beleive she has officialy taken the Hewitt name yet some media still uses her maiden name Cartwright. Yet she prefers Bec Hewitt.

Whether someone calls her Bec Cartwright or Bec Hewitt everyone knows who they mean so I guess either.

Bec is an unusual shortening of the name, usually it's Becky, Becca or Bex.
