Natalia Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Okay, I actually watched a whole episode of H&A today for the first time in months. It was fairly interesting tho I thought the Aiden/Sean (I think I got the names right? Why did they both have Irish names when they obviously weren't Irish?) was a carbon copy of the Kane/Scott Phillips relationship. I didn't know there were rules stating you can only have names from your country of origin (even if your family has been in another country for many generations). There are plenty of Asian people in Australia, and many have Anglo-Saxon names. How wrong! One of best friends at school was called Stephanie, and yet she was Chinese. Maybe things are different where you are from, but in Australia (and America and Canada) name origin means next to nothing. Parents choose names because they like them, not because they are following their heritage, for Heaven's sake! Uma is an Indian name, and yet Uma Thurman doesn't look very Indian. Just for one example of hundreds of millions......
Annette Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 Calm down, people! Maybe she just thought it was surprising because they both had Irish names.
I love music Posted March 1, 2006 Report Posted March 1, 2006 If you hear anyone speak of Mac, that's also Martha, Mac is her pet name from her adoptive family's surname Mackenzie. Thanks, I have seen the name Mac mentioned a few times and I assumed it was a guy (on this board, I mean). Calm down, people! Maybe she just thought it was surprising because they both had Irish names. Yep, I was just wondering if there was some Irish connection that had something to do with the story.
