Ryan Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 Going back to Martha and electics and not just the way she lights up the screen "Groan" If you give a character an occupation, ie. Martha an electrician, Jack a policeman, Flynn, a doctor, that all require "extraordinary" situations you can either give the impression of crime havens, dodgy electronic jobs or an unhealthy population. If you don't have a character getting sick every now again, you'd either get the impression that he's never at work or he'll just have no screen time. Notice how bringing in a full time cop in Peter sent the crime rate up. Martha and Alex's arrivals caused a spate of broken electronics. Just from a storylining point of view I think it make more sense to have characters in "meeting place" jobs such as teaching, cooks or waitresses.
TabbyCool Posted February 26, 2006 Report Posted February 26, 2006 I can totally see what you are saying Ryan. People don't tend to need an electrician every day, whereas people go to bars and stuff reguarly, kids have to go to school 5 days a week, people often pop out for a coffee or whatever, so it makes more sense to have characters working in these jobs. I think this is why the people who work or have worked as counsellors take on other jobs or have a career change. It just doesn't seem realistic that so many people in a small town need counselling! I don't know anyone who has seen a counsellor and I live in a city! I know Summer Bay has more than it's fair share of drama, but I doubt even they have much need for a full-time counsellor.

Then again, I don't think half of the things happen in the city that happen in summer bay! All the dramas! lol It is a VERY unlucky town, so i wouldn't be too surprised if everyone there has seen a counseller once or twice! lol
emmasi Posted February 27, 2006 Report Posted February 27, 2006 wow! I thought you were male... I've never come across a female who loves men on men more then you... lol Now I feel special . COLEEN!!COLEEN!! Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I was just thinking, there aren't many lesbians in soaps. I know there aren't many Gay people in either, but I can't think of any lesbians, can you? Zoe in Emmerdale, and now Debbie and Jasmine, there was also numerous GF's for Zoe over the years, now there are apparently (i don't watch tho) two in EE. Need a gay guy!
