stifler Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 I think it was a bit OTT. but that's robbie, isn't it?
Liz Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 That's got to be some of the biggest garbage I've ever been unlucky enough to watch. As a tri-annual event these plays are always the ****est entertainment known to man and I was almost following the crowds in stopping watching, and I'm not just talking about the first part, Matilda and Lucas' ad-hoc interpretation was chronic as well. Please don't put us through this tripe in 2008, please!!! Colleen's writing was supposed to be atrocious, but there's no excuse for Matty and Lucas's improv. What made it worse was the audience's reaction - laughing as though it was the funniest play they'd ever seen. Urgh.
x..kt..x Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 It made me laugh. I felt so embaressed for them. The best bit was the 'evils' towards Jack, oh it made me chuckle! lol
Nicom Posted February 24, 2006 Report Posted February 24, 2006 lmao, no the best part was when jack jumped on the beach! I couldn't stop laughing, I had to rewind the tape to that part, run in my sisters room, and show her! lol
cool-chick Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 The play was really silly but lucas & matilda saved the day and i thot it was so cute when they kissed.
emmasi Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 I haven't watched the play for ages, but I seem to remember liking it a lot and laughing. Especially at "Oi, Summa!" They're just cute little kids. Ever think that maybe their improv wasn't meant to be Shakespeare quality...? And I'd say the audience reaction was more to do with the fact that they were so obviously making it up as they went along - always fun
x..kt..x Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 I didn't get the 'oi summer' bit. Ws it meant to be taking the mess out of Coleen, if so it was mean.
eib Posted February 25, 2006 Report Posted February 25, 2006 I haven't watched the play for ages, but I seem to remember liking it a lot and laughing. Especially at "Oi, Summa!" They're just cute little kids. Ever think that maybe their improv wasn't meant to be Shakespeare quality...? And I'd say the audience reaction was more to do with the fact that they were so obviously making it up as they went along - always fun For me it wasn't that it wasn't top quality scripting (or rather un-scripting), more that I couldn't shake the idea that this is embarrassingly what the writers think is 'hip' for kids to say. But I guess you're right with the audition reaction thing. I think it's funny they all know what Colleen is like, how bad this play would be but all turned up anyway (except Beth?). I didn't get the 'oi summer' bit. Ws it meant to be taking the mess out of Coleen, if so it was mean. Well the entire improvised bit was sort of making fun of Colleen... but all in good fun.
