Good news There is some light for this channel starting, they just need to raise some money and when they get that money the channel will start.

So hold tight everyone, this channel is still on but only just and also watching old episode of home and away is still on along with cell block h and skippy.

Yes where are you getting your information from i do hope your right but from everything i have read about this channel across the net it isnt going to happen.

why announce a channel 2 years ago that hasnt launched yet and you dont have the capital for seems a very strange thing for them to do.

every channel has a pre launch and a date BUT 2 YEARS !!!

Yeah, surely you gain the neseccary revenue and such before going out revealing what you are going to show.

There's probably thousands of shows we never hear about every year and htey've got the right idea not revealing about anything until everything is ready to go.

not sure what this means but: <_<

if the US owe 50% of the channel, maybe on sky they might have a new channel (downunder tv) and show some channel 7 programmes. what do you think? an i reading to much into it? :(

New Aussie TV channel is coming this summer

A brand new TV channel dedicated to Australian TV shows is on track to be launched this summer. Called 'Down Under TV', the channel from Thomas Cook TV and Enteraction is making preparations for its debut on Sky Digital. It is in talks with several TV producers and distributors about airing Aussie shows including Home and Away, Neighbours and Cell Block H. [Jan 22]

link doesnt work sweety however i buy wotsat mag and i remember reading that but theres another small hitch with this debate............summers already gone and thats the second year we have had this problem. I dont mean to be cynical because i for one if it did actually get off the ground and launch would watch alot but being realistic i really think straws are being cluthed at and the " power" of people wanting this is putting them in denial of facts. As Ryan agreed with me why announce a channel 2 years before it is launched without the money.

thats like me saying im going to buy an item i dont have money for then in 2 years time there was no point in me ever mentioning it as i will never afford it and/or get all partys involved to comply

Private US firm buys Oz network

Home and Away is one of Seven Network's big draw cards

A US private equity firm is buying a 50% share in the media business of one of Australia's largest broadcasters.

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) is paying 735 million Australian dollars ($564m; £297.9m) to the Seven Network to create a joint venture - valued at $4bn.

The venture - Seven Media - will include Seven's television, magazines and online businesses as well as its stake in the Yahoo!7 internet portal.

Changes to Australian media ownership law have produced a frenzy of activity.

Concentration concerns

Seven operates one of the country's most watched TV stations, featuring the soap opera Home and Away.

It said the investment would give it "the strategic and financial flexibility to take advantage of the dynamics of the Australian and New Zealand media landscape".

Meanwhile KKR said that Seven was "well positioned to benefit from changes in the media environment".

Australia's media industry has seen a major reshuffle after its parliament passed a law lifting restrictions on foreign ownership and mergers.

However there is concern that the changes will bring an even more concentrated media market than currently exists - leaving more power in the hand of a few press moguls - such as the head of the Seven Network, Kerry Stokes.

KKR is not the first private equity group to tap into Australia's media companies - which work in a fairly protected market.

Australian media and gaming giant Publishing and Broadcasting Ltd (PBL) moved its media assets into a joint venture with private equity group CVC Asia Pacific.

And Providence Equity Partners has joined forces with Independent News and Media in a bid for APN News and Media - which specialises in newspapers outside of Australia's biggest cities, and in New Zealand.

Two other major deals have taken place since the legislation was approved in October.

Seven Network took a 14.9% stake in publisher West Australian Newspapers.

Later, Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation bought a 7.5% stake in rival Australian newspaper group Fairfax.
