ste Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 She was a good character who was around for a while and popped occasionally thereafter, for about a year I think. Sally, Tiegan, Joey and lots of other characters learned sign language.

And he was yelling at her to get out and obviously she didn't understand. I think the reason she was at the school was because her Dad had forced her into it - because she had learned to talk and lip read, so while she had an obvious disadvantage he felt that she could handle it. He probably didn't want her modicoddled (sp?) so he asked that it wouldn't be made a big deal of at school. That was ages ago though - two diners ago... That was a good storyline. A bit "moral of the story is..." though. But it was done well. Joey, Tegan and friends learnt a bit of sensitivity etc. Like the time Justine was telling a joke really fast and Kim couldn't keep up and she got upset and they felt bad. Good times. dan, I think I remember what you are talking about. There was a student/supply teacher and the class was giving him hell and he was freaking out, telling them all one by one to get out of the classroom. Then he yelled at them all to get out, but Kim didn't understand and he freaked out and she freaked out. I think she was at the school because he father forced her to go because she had learned to talk and lip read. So while she had an obvious disadvantage she could handle it (so he thought). He probably didn't want the teachers to treat her specially. It all felt a bit "the moral of this story is..." but it was done well. Joey, Justine and group learned to be sensitive to someone who was different etc. Like the time Justine was telling a joke in the diner (the old diner - two diners ago I believe) and Kim couldn't keep up with the lip reading and she got upset. Didn't Kim fall in love with Joey? Man, two diners ago... that was ages.

I think I have a vague memory of that. It was way, way back when I'd just watch H&A now and again. There were some kids dancing on the school steps and a deaf girl said something in sign language which one of the characters translated as "You feel like you're one of the gang? You ARE one of the gang!" I think it stayed in my mind because I was like, wow, that's pretty fast translating! But I could've sworn the deaf girl was called Ann tho. So either I've got an excellent memory or a really bad one.
