Do they use their real names?

Does anyone here know if the Home and Away actors really use their own names as actors, or are the names we see on the credits just for professional use?

I always wondered if the ones with funny names are actually their real names. Indiana Evans is a little unusual & i often wonder if Mark Furze is really Ric's real/birth name. Some of them are very strange. Mind you, so are the bigger Hollywood stars over what they call their babies. Apple, Peeches, Co Co, all very unusual as well.

They might not be teh kind of names we hear all the time over here, buy they are probably quite normal in Australia.

I mean, how many English people are called Kylie?

On the other hand, how many Australians have Scottish names like Hamish, or Welsh names like Aled or Cerys? Probably not very many. Doesn't make them weird names though. Different countries have different names, and then there are the parents who just like to give their kids different names too, and it's not just celebrity parents either.

In the uk actors usually use their own names unless there is another actor already registered under that name (there's an official list...I forget what it's called). Then they just tend to altar it a bit, like David Walliams is actually David Williams etc. Maybe something similar happens in Oz?

Good point TabbyCool but it is an interesting topic.

Maybe they use one name for acting but perhaps use their middle name for private matters so they won't get too much press attention or whatever.

I'm sure they use their real names, theres no reason not to unless it's something really weird! Something like Jason Smith would probably be his birth name

Remember 'Sebastian Emagloglou' or something like that, I reckon that would be a birth name because why would someone change their name to something complicated/hard to pronounce?

I love the name Sebastian though :)

I'm sure they are, because they would have no real reason not to.

Plus their friends and family will call them their real name, e.g. I know the name Tammin Sursok is real, because she was a prefect or something at a high school my friend went to, and she knew her back then. (So it couldn't have been changed)

I know a couple of people called Indiana, It's one of my favourite names.

I don't think it's unusual :)

I love that name too. Wish it was my name. I reckon that the werid names as you call them are funky. Id love to have an unusual name. I really hate plain biblical names. Some are alright though like the name Joshua...thats my fave boys name.
