  4. The forum did indeed used to be on backtothebay.com, but it moved to .net back in 2013. When we first launched, the main site was on .com and the forum was on .net – and I've absolutely no idea why it all got switched around

  13. I agree with the previous comments about David's double standards. He gets annoyed at Cash for Eden going to the station to see him but it's OK when Jo turns up. I do wonder if something is going to happen with David and Roo. I think David likes her possibly. I am quite liking Roo at the moment. She's is showing a lot of compassion and empathy with the fostering. Yeah, I thought Alf prohibited her from doing any more fostering after Eliza so he's not going to be too happy when he finds out, although interestingly Marilyn has been quite supportive immediately. When Roo mentioned to her how do you tell Cohen his mother doesn't want him, I was thinking Heather yet again. Not sure what to make of Avalon. I mean it's a cool name and I liked Mackenzie's reaction to seeing her but getting Remi on drugs and trying to effectively poach him from Kirby initially wasn't good. I am glad she and Kirby are OK and I'm liking Justin's involvement. Shame Remi is under such pressure.

  19. A pretty abrupt decision for Harper to return to work but in a way, it's good that she'll have something to concentrate on rather then sitting at home fretting about Tane and driving else mad whinging on about him. She would have returned to work at sometime. It did come out when she was talking to Irene why she became a SW as they look after kids like her and Dana so can smypathise with them. It was very handy that it just had to happen as Cohen turned up and at least this time Roo has a SW actually there. Harper has been suddenly dropped in it with Cohen but him and his mum not being local TPTB behind her would need to do some digging into their history. David didn't get very far either with his investigations I loved, again how he was with Cohen, Roo being there as appropriate adult of course. Not sure if Cohen was telling the whole truth about his background, this lady he called nan for one, or whether his mum had drummed into him not to reveal too much about themselves. He did say he didn't know who his dad was, so either dad may have been a one night stand, brief encounter, died when he was very young, it could even be likely Samantha is a widow. Going off on a tandem, his name is Kingham but in the closing credits, which I admit I don't usually look at, his name was shown as David Miller. Wasn't that his wife's maiden name which Lacey changed her surname to? He and Roo did get on and although they may have had a transient background he's well read so Samantha has been able to educate him somehow. David did tell Roo Samantha was being sent down, did he say for how long, which may have been why she decided to give up any parental rights on him so it was a clean break for both of them. Maz seemingly got a good vibe from him unlike the one she got from Eliza. It does seem a good idea that Kirby and Avalon have teamed up, but I'm still not sure about her. It's putting more pressure on Remi though and Justin isn't helping by announcing he's got a venue for Kirby's Launch Party in a week's time. He's going to have to crack on too getting the fliers out, get it on Kirby's SM page. Kirby telling Avalon that Remi didn't any money problems re financing the album made ring for me. You know what TPTB are like letting us think one thing when something else happens. I'm hoping it isn't what they are suggesting. Avalon may be one of those people who can just take drugs as and when they want and don't get hooked.

  33. @Revealed I'm not sure not being attractive enough or not liking the character is reason why they are "pointless". Some characters I actively disliked, but I still see the purpose they served. Brodie Hanson, for example. I couldn't stand the character, but she did serve a purpose as the "voice of reason" etc, and had a love interest. I agree with others being dull (i.e. the Holdens), but again they served a purpose. Judith Ackroyd is an interesting one - I remember liking her at the time, but she was secondary to Edward's story arc and even her role as principal wasn't neccesary, since Donald was still around at that point and could have continuned in that role. She could have easily been written out with Edward and Peta to be honest. She just floated around doing very little after Edward other than a romance with Joel (which was essentially just to give two characters at a loose end something to do until their exits), so she was definitely pointless in her last 6 months or so. For me, pointless means they just hang around and don't add anything to the show (i.e. Matt Wilson, Simon Fitzgerald). Even some of the borderline characters like Colleen, Floss and Neville were created for comic relief purposes. I found their comedy stuff irritating and eye-rolling, but that was their purpose. Likewise, some of the "nerds" filled a character type and were part of the central teen gang, family unit or part of a central family unit. Yes, all the characters seem to be cookie-cutter characters these days. When one leaves, we pretty much get another one to slot straight in - Abi/Flick, Mali/Dean. There are certainly more pointless characters these days, mostly because the majority of the cast a similar age and therefore all serve a similar purpose. Sadly, I agree. She was one of my favourite characters at the time, especially after the Alex story and doing the right thing in Colby's trial, so I was really sad to see her go. I'm not now wishing she would come back or that she didn't leave though.

  34. Thanks Chris. The Forum used to be Backtothebay.com didn’t it? I think that just redirects to .net now though.
